Saturn is the slowest moving among the nine planet lords. It takes Saturn 30 years to complete one cycle around the Zodiac. As per Hindu ancient science, Saturn is the son of the Sun. It is the planet of karma. Saturn takes position in one sign for 2.5 years before moving to the next. Because it stays in a sign for such a long time, Saturn's influence on the life of a person is that much more profound. Changes that accompany Saturn's transit from one sign to the other can significantly alter one's life. This is the reason why Saturn is the most feared planet. However, it is to be remembered that Saturn is a neutral planet and judges the actions of a person dispassionately. So, if a person does good in life, Saturn can be his or her best ally.
Saturn's transit is very important to the life of a person. Planet Saturn is the Lord of justice. Saturn is also known to test the mettle of a person by putting up obstacles in his or her path. Saturn spends 2.5 years in each sign. That is a lot of time, during which the impact of Saturn on those particular aspects of life signified by that sign can be wide, deep and intense. The 7.5-year period of Sade Sati when Saturn transits through the 12th, 1st and 2nd houses in the horoscope can be a life-changer for any person. Knowing the position of Saturn in one's horoscope and its effects can help the person a lot when it comes to dealing with the harsh realities of life. So getting a personalised Saturn transit report can do you a world of good.
The influence of Saturn's transit in the life of a person is huge. A Saturn transit through a Zodiac sign lasts 2.5 years. A Saturn transit report will analyse in detail how much of an impact the planet of karma will have on you during the transit. This will help you do the right thing at the right time and thus make life easier as the years roll on. In addition to that, the report will also provide remedies that will help the person negate the ill effect of Saturn during the transit.
The Saturn transit report is over 12 pages long. It contains detailed information about the nirayana longitude of the planets which is the correction factor that has to be included while calculating the effect of planets due to the motion of the Earth. Details about the Dasa and Apahara periods and Ashtakavarga, which is the calculation of the strength of the planets in the natal chart, follow. Then the transit of Saturn and Saturn aspects including Kantaka Sani, Ashtama Sani and Sade Sati, the movement of Saturn through various Kakshya and finally remedies against the ill effects of Saturn are included. Remedies are included only if ill effects are seen for the Saturn transit.
Nirayana longitude is the correction factored into the calculation of planetary effects to negate the changes in the position of Earth as it moves through the cosmos. In Vedic Astrology, the 27 Nakshatras that are present on the outer edge of the Zodiac are taken as the fixed points. Against these Nakshatras, the positions of the planets while viewed from Earth are marked in the natal chart. But the position of the Earth itself undergoes a gradual change as years turn to centuries and then to millennia. Nirayana longitude is longitude obtained after negating the changed position of Earth from the position of planets in the cosmos as viewed from Earth against the backdrop of Nakshatras. This makes the calculations more accurate.
In Vedic Astrology, the lifespan of a human being on Earth is taken as 120 years. Explanations about why this number was chosen vary, but it is generally believed that a healthy human being, consuming healthy food and leading a healthy lifestyle, breathing clean air and possessing a clean mind, will live for 120 years before the physical body succumbs to wear and tear. The nine planet lords take turns in ruling over the fortunes of a person during his or her time on Earth. This is the Dasa period. The number of years varies with the planet - Ketu (7 years), Venus (20), Sun (6), Moon (10), Mars (7), Rahu (18), Jupiter (16), Saturn (19) and Mercury (17). During the Dasha period of each planet, the other 8 planets take turns in exerting secondary influence. This is called the Bhukti or Apahara period.
Ashtakavarga is used to calculate the strength of the 12 signs and 9 planet lords in the natal chart of a person. It is the 8-fold division of each sign with one planet given ruler status to each division in the order - Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon and Lagna. The shadow planets Rahu and Ketu are ignored and instead, ascendant Lagna is given planet status. Each planet is then matched against the other 7 planets. If the other planet likes this planet '1' is marked. If not, then '0' is marked. This is done with every planet and then with every sign. Then the overall points scored by each sign and by each planet in the natal chart are calculated. Based on this the strength or weakness of the planet and the sign can be known which ensures accuracy in predictions.
The Sarva Ashtakavarga table has 12 signs as rows and the 7 planets as columns. Lagna is avoided here since it is not technically a planet. The point scored by each planet is marked against the sign in the table. Adding the points in the row gives the total Ashtakavarga points scored by each of the 12 signs while adding the points in the column gives the points scored by each of the planets. The total scores of the signs and planets are both 337. By looking at this table, one can understand how strong or how weak a certain planet or sign is in the natal chart of the person.
In Sarvashtakavarga Chart, the total points of each house in the natal chart are marked. The overall total of 337 is written in the middle which is divided unevenly among the 12 houses that make the chart. Since each house signifies certain areas of life, by looking at the chart one can understand where the strengths and weaknesses of a person lie. By knowing the position of the planets in the chart, a detailed, in-depth analysis of how the person is faring in life or is going to fare in life can be made.
The condition of Saturn in your birth chart is very important to analyze the result of Saturn in transit. Saturn is the indicator of Karma. This will include Karma from past lives as well. By knowing the points of Saturn from the Ashtakavarga chart, one will know whether Saturn is weak or strong in the natal chart. Then depending on the position of Saturn in the chart, its effect on different aspects of life can be analysed.
The transit chart shows the positions of different planets in the natal chart of a person. This gives an overall view of the quality and nature of the different forces acting upon the life of the person. One can also understand the influence cast by a planet, say for instance Saturn, on the house and the planets positioned in that house if any. By knowing the strength or weakness of the signs, the overall influence of Saturn on the different life aspects of a person can thus be calculated.
Transit forecast is based on the comparison of the present position of planets with those in the birth chart. Saturn is generally a sorrowful planet and its influence can be depressing. However, in certain positions, it gives beneficial results, like when in the 3rd house or the 11th. The net effect is not indicated, but you should be able to get an idea of the dynamics at work by studying the impact of each particular transit aspect. The transit forecast is dependent on the strength of Saturn in the chart as well as the strength of the sign through which the transit is happening during the given period.
Saturn is justice. Saturn is neutral and dispassionate when it comes to delivering justice. Righteous deeds will bring good results while heinous actions will make the person suffer. The strength of Saturn is vital to know its impact on the natal chart. The strength of the sign through which Saturn transits is also important to understand the effect of Saturn on the person. Saturn during retrograde can be more intense and focused on the effects. Each transit lasts 2.5 years, which means the effects felt by the person will be significant enough to cause lasting changes in his or her life.
In addition to the house that a planet is positioned in the natal chart, the planet also casts an influence on certain other houses and planets, if any, positioned in those houses. Every planet casts an influence on the 7th house since it is the house of marriage and relationships. Additionally, the planet Saturn aspects the 3rd and 10th houses. The 3rd house is the house of creativity and communication while the 10th house is the house of actions and decisions. The nature and intensity of Saturn's aspect depend on the strength of the planet and that of the houses in the natal chart.
Except for the 3rd and 11th houses, Saturn is considered malefic in all other houses. That is, it is customary for Saturn to bring out the worst in that house. This is especially true when Saturn is in the 4th, the 7th and the 10th houses. The period of Saturn's transit through these houses is referred to as the period of Kantaka Sani. It is considered a bad period in the life of a person. There may be a downfall in activities. The 4th house signifies home and family. The 7th house is for marriage and relationships. The 10th house is the house of karma. Bad things can happen to these areas of life during Kantaka Sani.
Saturn's transit through the 8th house is called the Ashtami Sani. Unexpected events that happen in life are covered by the 8th house. That, along with Saturn's penchant for causing obstacles and delays can cause serious problems in the life of a person. He or she may have to face sorrows, losses and other instances that will change a life forever.
Saturn's transit through the 12th, 1st and 2nd houses in the natal chart is called Sade Sati. This period lasts for a long 7.5 years and hence is one of the most feared transit periods of any planet. The 12th house deals with mysticism and all things inexplicable in life. The 1st house is the house of self. It represents the physical and mental build-up of the person. The 2nd house is about possessions and ownership of the person. In short, Sade Sati can cause inexplicable events that will affect the health and well-being of a person, along with his or her position and status in life. Sade Sati is the most significant period in life and how a person deals with it will set the tone for the rest of his or her life.
The 1/8th portion of each sign as divided during Ashtakavarga calculations is called a Kakshya. Since Saturn's transit through each sign lasts 2.5 years, the transit of Saturn through each Kakshya is also of importance since each such transit lasts almost four months. By analysing the transit of Saturn through each Kakshya, the varying fortunes of the person during the transit of Saturn through a sign can be known. This is very helpful in making the best out of a bad situation, especially during the periods of Kantaka Sani, Ashtami Sani and Sade Sati.
Saturday fasting is the best way to alleviate the malefic effects during Saturn's transit. Chanting prayers of Lord Sani and visiting temples of Lord Sastha or Hanuman is also advised. Black is the colour associated with Saturn, therefore wearing black clothes will make the person agreeable to Saturn. Conducting Saneeswara Pooja is also recommended. Results obtained will be dependent on the devotion and sincerity with which the individual carries out the remedial measures. Also, note that remedial measures will be included only if ill effects are seen in the report.
